About Us and what we do...
Tidd's Towing & Recovery is a fourth generation family business, over 65 years of service and is one of the largest leaders in the towing and recovery industry.
Kenneth Frederick Tidd along with his wife Betty started Tidds in 1945, With only one wrecker. He operated a scrap yard located at west yorkshire road in Yorkshire NY, and known to buy anything he could make a profit on, from cars, to planes and even old army tanks. Before he knew it he was towing for the public and local police departments.
In 1973 he bought his first new rollback f-350 with a 16 foot deck bed for $6,500 which his son William Kenneth(bill) Tidd drove until 1997. Sadly in 1980 Kenneth Frederick Tidd Sr. passed away from a stroke. Since then his son and daughter inlaw took over the business, continuing to run the scrap yard and towing business, servicing the community and earning public trust.
In 1997 at the age of 22 his son Kenny Tidd took over the towing and recovery business leaving his dad to run the scrap yard. Today the family business still strives with a fleet of new trucks and recently added services which include: 24 emergency services, a rolloff service for cleanup projects and commercial use, jump starts, and an environmental hazardous material clean up service.
Tidd's Towing & Recovery not only specialize in towing and recovery, We provide rapid and professional service to our community. We work along with local and federal agencies and fire departments, provide service to the public, private body shops, dealerships and repair shops. Our trucks and equipment are ready to go at all times.
Our environmental hazardous material clean up service protects the public from chemicals and infectious waste that the public is exposed to after a collision. We are up to date with our standards of equipment and safely training which protects the community and ourselves.
We have continued to grow along with our community, and for years we have donated salvage vehicles to our local fire department for their training fields. We will continue to provide top notch service to our community which is why we will remain one of the leaders in the towing and recovery industry for years to come.
